Obituary

Georgia Florence Haun, 79, of Meyersville, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009. She was born in Wallis on January 8, 1930 to the late John and Mary Svoboda Uhyrek. She married Norvan Gene Haun on September 29, 1956 in Ganado. She graduated as salutatorian of East Bernard High School in 1948. After graduation from Durham Business College, her career included secretarial jobs at Clark & Courts, the East Bernard Independent School District, Dupont, and Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She later obtained certification as a Nurses Aid and volunteered at the Yorktown Hospital. Being raised on a farm as a child and ending up on a ranch in her later years, her love of animals and wildlife was one of her greatest joys.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years; son, Bryan Haun and wife Gina of Cuero; sister, Victoria Michalik of Port Alto; granddaughter, Shannon Haun of Austin; and grandson, Brock Haun of Cuero.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Craig Haun; sister, Charlene Kana; and brother, Henry Uhyrek.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Meyersville with Father Frank Lenz officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
