Geraldine Spears, 88, of Cuero, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017. She was born January 27, 1929 in Cuero to the late Ned Givens Thigpen Sr. and Viola Simon Thigpen. She met William Travis (Red) Spears through her youngest son, Chris's, involvement in Boy Scouts. They were married November 18, 1978 in Cuero.
Geraldine was the Manager of the Circle K between 1972 and 1976 and then became a meat market wrapper for HEB from 1976 to 1994. She loved gardening and sewing. She also enjoyed cooking and always had plenty of food for family and friends.
Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Cathryn Rother and husband, Allen, of Schulenburg and Cheryl Franklin and husband, Ray, of Victoria; sons, Edward S. Fuchs of Cuero, William Michael Fuchs of Victoria, and Christopher Alan Fuchs and wife, Kiki, of Boston, MA; sisters, Doris White of Yorktown, Loyce Sikes of Woodsboro, and Deborah Thamm of Victoria; brothers, Walter Thigpen of Mission Valley, Vernon Thigpen of Port Lavaca, and Douglas Thigpen of Cuero; four loving granddaughters, Jennifer Buchhorn of Cuero, Maddison Franklin of Owings Mills, MD, Emma Jane Fuchs of Boston, MA, and Katherine Viola Fuchs of Boston, MA; two step-granddaughters, Alicia Garcia and Patricia Gum; much loved great-grandchildren, Amber Nicole Buchhorn and Tyler Zane Buchhorn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 28 years; sister, Ruby Thigpen; and her brother, Ned Thigpen Jr.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10 am at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Kallie Green officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Tyler Buchhorn, Warren Buchhorn, Ray Franklin, Allen Rother, Floyd Sullivan, Walter Thigpen, Caleb White, and Dell White Jr.
Memorial contribution may be made to First United Methodist Church and Boy Scout Troop 245.
