Gladys W. Knocke Buchhorn, 90, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011. She was born November 21, 1920 in Lindenau to the late Willie and Ella Roggenkamp Knocke. She married Edmund C. Buchhorn on November 30, 1938 in Lindenau. Gladys was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lindenau.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Oehlke and her husband, Melvin of Cuero; granddaughters, Kathryn Gips and her husband, Jimmy, of Yorktown and Leslie Breeden and her husband, Steve of Whitehouse; and great-grandchildren, Caleb James and Hally Kaye Gips of Yorktown and Amanda Jordan, Morgan Alexis and Brody Dean Breeden of Whitehouse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ella Roggenkamp Knocke; her loving husband, Edmund C. Buchhorn; son, Roy A. Buchhorn; grandson, Bruce Allen Buchhorn; and sister, Beatrice Knocke Kincaid.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011, 11 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Lindenau with Pastor William Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Lindenau Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jimmy Gips, Caleb Gips, Steve Breeden, Oscar Schlinke III, Harold Schlinke, and Arlen Buchhorn.
Honorary pallbearers include her great-grandchildren, Hally Gips, Amanda Breeden, Morgan Breeden, and Brody Breeden.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church-Lindenau or St. Michael's Catholic School-Cuero.
