Gloria Ann Riedesel, 82, of Cuero passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was born in Cuero on February 21, 1942 to John and Leona Borchardt Riedesel.

Gloria graduated from Cuero High School, Del Mar College and on June 2, 1963, she graduated from James Dougherty Jr. School of Nursing in Corpus Christi.  During her career as a registered nurse, she worked at Christus Spohn Hospital, the Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in Corpus Christi and McKenna Memorial Hospital (now Christa Santa Rosa Hospital) in New Braunfels.  Through her expertise, she helped numerous family members when medical emergencies arose.  She gave advice and stayed at their bedside.

Gloria was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff.  She taught Sunday school and vacation bible school in both Westhoff and Corpus Christi.

Gloria had a passion for traveling, taking trips with various family members and making memories.  She loved the mountains and would often travel to Colorado and Wyoming to photograph and enjoy the Rocky Mountains and Grand Tetons and have picnics by rivers and streams.  In recent years, she enjoyed traveling with her cousin, Evangeline Howard to many southern and east coast states enjoying B&B's where on the patios she could drink her coffee, listen to the running streams and enjoy nature.

She is survived by her brother, Timothy (Corlis) Riedesel of Cuero; nieces, Samantha Sutton (Charles III) of Cuero and Carissa Riedesel of Sewanee, TN; nephew, Jonathan Riedesel of San Marcos and great-nephew, Charles Sutton IV of Cuero.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leona Riedesel.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024, 9:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff.  Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jan Russell Putnam officiating.  Interment will follow at Westhoff Cemetery.

Pallbearers include David Janssen, Don Janssen, Charles Riedesel, Jonathan Riedesel, Kelcey Schmidt and Charles Sutton III.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church – Westhoff or Hospice of South Texas.
