Guadalupe "Lupe" Garibay, Sr., 87, of Cuero passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022.  He was born December 12, 1934 in Arneckeville to the late Nicholas and Julia Tejeda Garibay.  Lupe married his late wife, Lydia Garcia, on April 29, 1955 in Raymondville.  He loved his family and cherished giving his grandchildren rides on the tractor.  Lupe was a loyal friend and enjoyed his daily meetings at Dairy Queen with his buddies.

Lupe is survived by daughters, Delia Gamez (Frank) of Cuero, Sylvia Pompa (Arturo) of Cuero, Virginia Salazar (Greg) of Cuero, Alice Hernandez (Henry) of Waxahachie, Sandra Garcia (Ernest) of Cuero, Julia Olguin (Mario) of Cuero, and Lydia Garibay of Cuero; sons, Eddie Garibay (Shane), Elias Garibay (Josie), Ruben Garibay, and Joshua Garibay, all of Cuero; sisters, Maria Alvarez, Manuela Dougay, Martha Cuellar, Gloria Solis, and Carol De Los Santos, all of Cuero; brother, John Garibay of Pasadena; 35 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Julia Garibay; beloved wife, Lydia Garibay; son, Lupe Garibay Jr.; daughter, Neomi Garibay; sister, Ramona Galindo; and brothers, Bisente Garibay and Francisco Garibay.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm at Freund Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, 10 am, at The Good Shepherd Church in Cuero with Pastor Adolf Cortinas officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Hector "Pico" Gamez, Greg "Gigo" Salazar, Jonathan Hernandez, Eddie Ray Garibay, Mario "Nuno" Olguin, and Mark Anthony Garibay.  Honorary pallbearers include all his grandchildren and his Dairy Queen friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Good Shepherd Church in Cuero or Harbor Hospice.
