Hazel R. Hopkins, 79, of Houston, formerly of Cuero, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. She was born June 8, 1932 in DeWitt County to the late Jesse Stewart and Booker T. Thomas Sr. She was a delivery driver.
She is survived by daughter, Ruth H. Simon of Houston; sons, Carlton Hopkins and wife, Dorothy, and Alfred Hopkins Jr. and wife, Kimberly, all of Houston; sisters, Vivian Payne and husband, Bobby, and Jennie Bell Jeffries; brothers, James Thomas and wife, Lois Marie, and Walter Thomas and wife, Margaret; grandchildren, Treva Cossio and husband, Lucio, Demetrius Hopkins and wife, Tasha, Dewayne Washington, Jacobi Hopkins, and Bria Hopkins, all of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Kierra L. Cossio, LaPorsha Washington, LaTricia Washington, and Jaiden Hopkins, all of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Hopkins, Sr.; son-in-law, Raymond A. Simon; sisters, Bessie Mae Franklin and Earline Hopkins; and brother, Booker T. Thomas Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eternal Rest Funeral Home, 4610 S Wayside, Houston, Texas 77087. There will be a viewing Saturday, April 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church beginning at 9 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lawrence G. Roy officiating. Interment will follow at Nobles Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Cedric Thomas, Andy Franklin, Zachary Hopkins, Deandra Kindles, Micah Hopkins, and Troy Duruisseau.
