Helen Gomez, 68, of Cuero, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was born September 1, 1949 in Cuero to the late Pete Varela and Isabel Cano. Helen was a caregiver who loved to play Bingo and cook for large family gatherings.

Helen is survived by her husband of 28 years, Marcus Gea; sisters, Esther Cervantes of Cuero and Linda Varela of Victoria; brothers, Raymond Varela of Austin and Richard Varela of Cuero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10 a.m. with Father Jasper Liggio officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Rudy Garza, Ricky Varela Jr., Ryan Varela, Raul Varela, Reuben Varela , Devonte Jackson, and Dustin Perez.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
