Inez Ramirez Ortiz, 90, of Cuero, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, in Victoria. She was born Oct. 24, 1920 in DeWitt County to the late Francisco and San Juanita Ramirez. She was a housewife. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose priority was to keep the family together.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Aitkens (Leonard) of Round Rock, Alice Aoueille (John) of Yorktown, Marie Survant (Ervin) of Salado, Yolanda Cervantes (Jerry) of Round Rock, Timothea Ortiz of Cuero, and Katy Brandt (Kirby) of Victoria; sons, Lupe Ortiz (Ecke) of Yuma, Ariz., Richard Ortiz (Jackie) of Sugar Land, and Michael Ortiz of Cuero; daughters-in-law, Lea Ortiz of Houston and Connie Ortiz of Sugar Land; sisters, Josephine Orman of Mississippi and Blasa Reyes of San Angelo; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and caregiver, Mary Ortega.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victoriano, whom she married on Sept. 17, 1938 in Runge; sons, Gregory Ortiz and Ray Ortiz; three sisters; and six brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at Memory Gardens of Cuero, with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating.
