Iola Jackson, 84, of Cuero passed away Friday, June 8, 2012. She was born December 7, 1927 in Corpus Christi to the late Laura Bryant and Emmit Johnson Sr. She married Tillman Jackson on January 9, 1945.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Tillman Jackson; daughters, Annie Gibbs and husband, Robert, Evelyn Warfield and husband, John, Cora Franklin and husband, Arthur, Judy Gray and husband, Donnel, Lura Collins and husband, Eugene, and Sheryl Whitfield and husband, Charles; sons, Donald Jackson and James Jackson Sr.; sister, Katherine Woodbury; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elsie Sampleton; son, Kenneth Jackson; and brothers, Woody Johnson, Dewey Johnson, Sylvester Johnson, Albert Johnson, and Emmit Johnson Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at L.E. Meador Encampment Grounds with Rev. Kevin Washington officiating. Interment will follow at Thomaston Cemetery.

Pallbearers include James Jackson Jr., Kenneth Jackson Jr., Kenny Wayne Lang, Eli Sampleton Jr., Robert Gibbs Jr., Elbert Collins, Terri Jackson, Casey Jackson, Kerry Warfield, and Denise Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers include Charles Whitfield, Robert Gibbs Sr., Walter Jenkins, Percy Peoples, and Don Pickens.
