Irene Marie Wendel Rohan, 96, of Cuero passed away Monday, January 20, 2020.  She was born June 20, 1923 in Yoakum to the late Adam P. Wendel and Matilda Brosch Wendel.  Irene married Jack Rohan of Yoakum on July 15, 1941.  She retired from Cuero Independent School District after many years working in the high school cafeteria.  After retirement from the school she became a full-time seamstress, sewing for many people in Cuero and the surrounding areas.  She was a devout member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Proske (Roland, deceased), Shirley Adams (Wesley), Connie Murray and Rose Mary Surratt; grandchildren, Jeff Proske (Terry), Rhonda Meith (Stephen), Kim Sipowicz (Michael), Katy Adams, and Taya Murray; great-grandchildren, Doran and Rylee Proske, Blake and Evan Meith, Adia, Bella, Vincent, Jack, Thomas, and Saul Sipowicz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jackie Joe Rohan; husband, Jack; sister, Alice Aschenbeck; and brother, Clem Wendel.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 2:30 p.m.  Funeral mass will follow at 3 p.m. with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating.  Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jeff Proske, Stephen Meith, Doran Proske, Blake Meith, Evan Meith, and Michael Sipowicz.
