James Willis Ancarrow, 82, of Thomaston, passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Victoria. He was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Richmond, Va., to the late Jessie Willis Ancarrow and Catherine (Gertie) Gray Ancarrow. He married the late Juanita Taylor Ancarrow on Sept. 6, 1949, in North Carolina. He attended John Marshall Military High School and had a 38-year career with DuPont in engineering and construction as an instrumentation engineer. He enjoyed working on "The Ranch". He was a Presbyterian Church member, Master Mason, and NUR Shriner.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Melody) Ancarrow of Victoria, Kenneth (Elena) Ancarrow of Kingwood, and Anthony (Karen) Ancarrow of Newark, Del.; sister, Catherine (Ed) Dennis of Garden Grove, Calif.; brothers, Charles
Ancarrow of Richmond, Va., William Ancarrow of Whitestone, Va., Alfred Ancarrow of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren,
Chelsea, Nathan, Clayton, Jason, Jessica, Abriel, and Walker; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Bailey, Jara, Gabrael, and Toby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Russell Ancarrow.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero with Pastor Bill Cotman of First Presbyterian Church in Cuero.
Pallbearers are Anthony Ancarrow, Clayton Ancarrow, Jason Ancarrow, Kenneth Ancarrow, Michael Ancarrow, and Nathan Ancarrow.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Ancarrow, Billy Ancarrow, Ed Dennis, Kirk Taylor, and Jimmy Chilcoat.
