Obituary

James Wesley Brown, Cuero, Texas was the second son born to the late Otward Brown, Sr. and the late Elois Terrell Brown. He was born August 20th, 1933 in DeWitt County, Texas.

James Wesley married Carrie Mathis Brown in 1959. She preceded him in death in 2008.

James Wesley confessed his belief in Christ in 1947 under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. A. S. Green of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Edgar, Texas. While at Mount Zion he served as an usher, president of BYPU and was presently the Financial Secretary until his health failed. James Wesley finished Daule High School in 1952. After graduating from high school, James enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of basic training at Lackland Air Force in San Antonio, Texas, he served three years in England. In 1956 he was discharged from the Air Force and worked for Groce Wearden Company of Victoria, Texas as a truck driver for eight years, Ful-o-Pep for 32 years where he retired, and later he worked for Joseph Trucking Co. of Victoria, Texas until his health failed him.

James Wesley leaves to mourn one son, Rodney Brown, of Clear Lake, Texas, three brothers, Otward Brown, Sr.(Precelia) Cuero, Texas, Everett R. Brown(Nancy, a special sister-in-law) Victoria, Texas and Charles R. Brown, San Marcos, two step-sons, Anthony and Warren (Pokey) Mathis (Linda) both of Cuero, Texas, first cousins Charlene Vann, Cuero, Tx Susie Bell Lott of Refugio, Tx and June Ford of Yoakum, Texas, three nieces, four nephews, two great nieces, three great nephews, one great-great nephew and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, April 3rd 2009 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. A homecoming celebration will be held Saturday, April 4th 2009, 2:00 pm, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. George Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasantville Cemetery.
