James A. "Jim" Conrad, 89, of Cuero passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. He was born July 14, 1928 in Houston to the late Frank and Minnie Louise Prinzel Conrad. After graduating from Bryan High School, Jim attended Allen Academy and Texas A & M University. He moved to Victoria in 1953 as production manager for American General Insurance Company. Jim married the love of his life, Margaret E. Sager, on September 18, 1954 in Arneckeville. He moved to Cuero in 1961 to form a general insurance agency and retired from insurance sales after 50 years of service. Jim was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, was active in the CAMAL House in Cuero, past president of Victoria Jaycee's, past vice-president of Texas Jaycee's representing the Victoria area, former member of Victoria SFOA and SBOA, past president of the Cuero Country Club, chairman and 10-year board member of the Cuero Community Hospital, board member of the Cuero Industrial Foundation, past president of the Cuero Gobbler Booster Club, and was the co-chair for the Cuero Turkeyfest and Centennial Celebration. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, fishing, hunting, and doing things that made this a better world for all to live. He is survived by his daughter , Melissa Randle and husband, Richard, of Cuero; sons, Craig Conrad and wife, Patricia, of Cuero and Michael Keith Conrad and wife, Susan, of Brentwood, TN; sister-in-law, Eleanor Conrad; grandchildren, Richard Conrad and wife, Jenny, Ryan Conrad and wife, Nicole, Zachary Conrad, Jared Conrad and wife, Brooke; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; parents; sister, Doris Mae Lowe; and brother, Harold Conrad. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017, 10:30 a.m., at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arneckeville with Pastor Barbara Beale officiating. The family will have a time of fellowship following the service. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ryan Conrad, Zac Conrad, Jared Conrad, Greg Hughes, Fred Sager, and Mark Sager. Honorary pallbearers include Richard Conrad, Glenn Rea, Murray Tarkington, Bubba Steen, Bob Davis, Monroe Reigier, C.P. Ernster, and the DQ Table of Knowledge.
