Obituary

James R. Gregorcyk, 70, of Cuero passed away Friday, November 25, 2022. Randy was born July 2, 1952 in Beeville to the late John William and Mable Dean Gregorcyk. He married Glenda Pawell on November 20, 1971 in Bay City. Randy was a plant operator at Texas Eastern Gas and Oil Company. His hobby started at a young age. Randy worked at his father's filling station after school and on weekends to have money to purchase cars. He was self taught and gained his knowledge through trial and error. Once married, his passion for building cars expanded. Randy owned a 1971 Pontiac Ventura which is still owned by the family, a 1956 Chevy Sedan, and a 1951 Chevy Nomad delivery station wagon to a dragster. When Texas Eastern transferred him to Cuero, he made sure to find oval dirt tracks. He built race engines for friends who were in the winners circle numerous times. Randy joined them on the track as an owner of a Southern Sport Mod. He challenged himself to be in the top five along with cars who used professional engine builders. Randy accomplished that along with the drivers that drove for him many times. He was constantly striving to find better and newer ways to achieve the most horse power out of an engine.

Randy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Glenda Gregorcyk of Cuero; sons, James R. Gregorcyk, Jr. and wife, Kara Koch Gregorcyk, of Lyons, KS and William A. Gregorcyk and wife, Jennifer Budd Gregorcyk, of Round Rock; brother, Allan Gregorcyk and wife, Nancy Gregorcyk, of Katy; and grandchildren, Riley and Reese Gregorcyk and Emsley Gregorcyk.
