IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Warner
Hancock Sr.
March 9, 1946 – February 24, 2023
James Warner Hancock Sr., 76, of Cuero passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. He was born March 9, 1946 in Gonzales to James Martin and Bessie Lee Granberry Hancock. On May 21, 1966, he married the love of his life and mother to his children, Mary Ann Marks. They shared fifty-one years together until her passing in 2018. James was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army as a Combat Medic from 1967-1968. He then went on to work as a Uniform Delivery Routesman for UniFirst for over forty years. He was an exceptional man and a great friend who loved his family fiercely. Over the years he was better known as: Honey, Dad, Grampy, Sweet Old Man, Doc and Hancock. He married Linda Mills in Cuero on April 4, 2020. He was our hero, our go to Mr. Fixit, and our constant support in all we accomplished. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his need for a clean yard, and his promptness. Our hearts are a bit at ease knowing that he is now reunited with his Sugar, Mary. He will be greatly missed, but we know that his presence will live on in each of us strongly. A man like him is never easily forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Raina (Keith) Samples; son, Jamie (Mary Katherine) Hancock; sister, Nelda (Sam) Meitzen; grandchildren, Jessa Lee, Warner Hancock and Weldon Hancock; great-grandchildren, Myra Kaye Lacerda and Eli Lacerda.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Mary Ann.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 4:00 -6:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 27, 2023, 10:00 AM at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
