James "Jimmy" Meinhart

We sadly announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Meinhart who peacefully left us on August 17, 2026, at the age of 72. The son of the late Richard and Patricia Meinhart, he was born on July 25, 1954, in Massillon, and lived the last three years in Cuero, TX near his two sons and grandsons.

After graduating from Massillon Washington High School in 1972, Jimmy proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy as an Atlantic Fleet Band percussionist. He was dispatched internationally, sometimes with only hours’ notice, for ceremonial affairs. He went on to build a successful career as a precision machinist, working many years at Stark Mold & Pattern. Jimmy’s passion for music followed him throughout his life as he faithfully performed as the drummer for Trinity Gospel Temple for over 40 years. His dedication to music and his love of aviation were passed down from his father to his children. Jimmy’s greatest joy in life was the time he shared with his family and friends. Loved by all, Jimmy was the quiet man in the room who had it all figured out.

Jimmy will be forever remembered by his sons Louie Meinhart (Alexis) and Danny Meinhart (Kyla); daughters Betsy and Emily; grandchildren Ava, Eve, Jordan, Ellison, Allison, and Parker; sisters Linda (Joe) McKim and Julie (Bill) Dewald; brother John Meinhart. Also cherishing his memory are his aunts Mary Lou Stenger and Susan Williams; his uncle Dennis Dillon; niece Lisa (Craig) Young; nephews Dillon Dewald, Steven (Mandy) Jenkins and Thomas (Sarah) Jenkins; Mary Ellen Adkins, the mother of his children and a close friend throughout his life; lifelong friends John P. Adkins and Timothy Isaacs; and many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Joseph Church in Massillon, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the committal at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, with Military Honors.

His family appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support of those who knew him.
