James L. Prause, 67, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. He was born January 27, 1945 in Cuero to Ben and Lottie Zedler Prause. He was a Sergeant for the United States Marine Corp and an office clerk for Ful-O-Pep Feeds for 30 years. He married Mary Clare Boettler on November 27, 1970 in Houston. Jimmy enjoyed music, reading, and dominoes. He was the drummer for the Tommie Vanek Orchestra and the Cuero Country Opry.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Clare Prause of Cuero; daughter, Therese Lynn Prause of Cuero; sons, Vincent Prause and wife, Kristin, of Marble Falls, and Anthony Prause and wife, Melinda, of Marion; brothers, Ben Prause and Charles Prause; grandchildren, Nicholas Alan Prause of New Braunfels and Airman First Class Jordan Michael Prause of Goldsborough, NC; and great-grandchild, Skyla Nichole Prause of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert K. Prause and Michael Dale Prause.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Saturday, May 26, 2012, 1 p.m., at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
