Obituary

James E. Whitehead, Jr., 83, of Denton passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Cuero. He was born April 29, 1928 in Gonzales County to the late Viola Parker and James E. Whitehead, Sr.. He married his late wife, Clovis Henderson, in Denton in 1958. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army. James worked in finance at several Texas colleges, retiring as the Director of Finance for Tarrant County Junior College. He enjoyed woodworking and music.

He is survived by daughters, Judy Maxey and Anna Davis; sons, John Blase, Ronald Blase, and John Whitehead; sisters, Pauline Kuecker, Francis Krause, and Ann Kolb; brothers, Vernon, Barney, and Roy Gene Whitehead; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Clovis Whitehead; sister, Edna May Whitehead; and brothers, Otis and Chester Whitehead.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 10 a.m., at Pilgrim Cemetery in Gonzales County. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Accolade Hospice, 222 W Grand, Yoakum, Texas 77995 and First Baptist Church in Smiley.
