Javance "Pokie" Thomas was born on April 1, 1945 in DeWitt County to Will and Bernice Bishop Thomas. He accepted Christ early on in his life at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He departed this life on October 5, 2021. He resided at Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cuero.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, one sister, Mrs. Lucy (David) Wimbish of Cuero; two children, Rhonda and Javance Thomas; grandchildren, Tre'quan, Ja'veon, Le'vian, J.D., Rha'niya McNary and Yazmine McKaine; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Bernice Thomas; five sisters, Ruby Lee, Jearline, Willie, Sadie and Bernice and four brothers, James "T", Leslie Sr., Tommie and Clarence.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2021, 6 – 8 pm at Freund Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be Saturday, October 16, 2021, 11 am at Pleasantville Cemetery with Rev. A.L. Taylor officiating.
Pallbearers include Marlow Thomas, Austin Gallaway, Raymond Thomas, Detric Mathis, Marcus Morris and Ervin Thomas.
Honorary Pallbearers include Wayne Mathis, Chris Mathis, Phil Thomas, Gerald Thomas, Oscar Brazzeal, Justin Hollie, Leslie Thomas, Jr. and his beloved grandchildren, Tre'quan, Ja'veon, Le'vian, J.D., Rha'niya McNary and Yazmine McKaine.
