Obituary

Jerry Lee Fischer, 74, passed away suddenly on August 23, 2018 at his home in Meyersville.  He was born February 25, 1944 in Cuero to Frank Seay and Ruth Gohmert Fischer.  He attended Cuero High School and went on to graduate from Texas A&M.  Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy in Vietnam. He was a kind and gentle soul.  Jerry loved watching and photographing wild life.  He was an avid bird watcher and even traveled to Mexico to see certain birds.   Jerry worked at the San Antonio Zoo for many years.   He moved to Meyersville to take care of his mother and step-father, Elroy Peters.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father; infant brother; step-father; and grandparents, Reinhold and Linda Diebel Gohmert and Robert and Clara Seiler Fischer.

He is survived by his mother; sister, Linda Clare Fischer; nephews, Jimmy (Tabitha) Baros and Charles (Deena) Baros; and a number of cousins.

The visitation will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville.  The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Boor officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Seth Melancon, Tommy Parr, Brandon Blain, Bruce Gohmert, Terry Haun, and Britton Blain.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville.
