Obituary

Cuero - Jessie 'Jake' C. Parker, 84, of Cuero, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009. He was born May 8, 1924 in Stratton, Texas to the late Clem and Lillie Rice Parker. He was an avid wolf hunter, a US Navy WWII veteran, a Cuero postman for 34 years and a member of the Hebron Baptist Church in Bear Creek.

He is survived by three sons, Dwayne (Sandra) Parker of Cuero, JD (Judy) Parker of Cuero, and Kenneth (Sharon) Parker of Victoria; grandchildren, Tina Parker, Laura Parker, Rachel (Randy) Longoria, Lisa (John) Youngblood, Amber (Casey) Vogt, Nathan (Shelly) Parker, and Hannah and Naomi Parker; great-grandchildren, Maddy and Connor Longoria; and companion & caretaker, Sheila Pope of Cuero.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Parker, Nancy Parker, Mildred Reinhardt and Sophie Parker; and brothers, Adelbert and Louis Parker.

Visitation will be Monday, February 9, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. A service will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 2 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Alexander Cemetery. The family requests your presence at Hebron Baptist Church for fellowship following the graveside service.

Pallbearers: Nathan Parker, Randy Longoria, John Youngblood, Gary Carroll, Casey Vogt, Shelton Parker, and Dwayne Stevens.

Honorary pallbearers: Frank Dollins, Wesley Stevens, Gamon Carroll and a host of other wolf hunters.
