Joe Robert James went to his eternal reward on December 14, 2009. He was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 9, 1925 to Frank Otway James and Josie Harris James. He served in World War II as an Army Air Force pilot and was honorably discharged in 1945. He resided in Corpus Christi, Texas and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years before retiring as an Engineering Manager. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying and fast motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Dink, of 60 years; brothers, Glen and Marvin James; and sisters, Marie Oughton and Francis Brewer.
He is survived by his son, David James and wife Cindy of Cuero, Texas; grandchildren, Kaci James and Sam James of Cuero, Texas; brother, Fred James and wife Gerri of Victoria, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to share in a visitation and meal on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. with service to follow at 1:30 p.m. with Adam Jaquez officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Seaside Cemetery.
