Joetta Clare Gawlik, 75, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010. She was born Aug. 1, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Joseph and Hilda Kowats Stubits. She married the late Jerome Gawlik Jr. on March 2,
1957, in St. Louis, Mo. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Garner (Jerry La Grange) of Cuero, Cindy Hilbrich (Kent) of Westhoff, Mary Kay Salo (Keith) of Cuero, Roxane Rollison (James) of Inez, Kristine Gawlik (John Oglesby) of Cuero, Kathleen Goebel (Keith) of Cuero, Diane Moreno (Eddie) of Mathis, and Elizabeth Tolbert (Corey) of Cuero; son, Kevin Gawlik
(Gina) of Victoria; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Marian Fleischman and Hilda Doner; and brothers, Paul Stubits, Richard Stubits, and Robert Stubits.

Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Sunday, May 2, with a rosary to be recited 6-7 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers will be Brandon Hilbrich, Justin Hilbrich, Kenci Hilbrich, Clayton Garner, Kelly Salo, Catrina Goebel, Corbin Goebel, and Lorraine Moreno.

Honorary pallbearers are Kathryn Salo, Veronica Gawlik Koch, Brittany Gawlik, Jessica Abbott, Christopher Abbott, Jacob Abbott, and Meagan Rollinson.
