John M. Bitterly, 57, of Cuero, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018.  He was born September 28, 1960 to the late John R. and Janet Ohrt Bitterly.  John was a farmer and rancher in DeWitt county spending countless hours taking care of his animals and tending to his land. He enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing a good meal with them.  John loved and cherished taking care of his nieces and nephews.

John is survived by his sisters, Alice Rickman and Patty Bassett, and his brother, Robert "Bobby" Bitterly, all of Cuero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with the Rosary be prayed at 6:30 p.m.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fathers Jasper Liggio officiating.  Interment will follow.

Pallbearers will include Reed Bitterly, Ryan Bitterly, Clayton Rickman, Bobby Bitterly, Michael Rath, Stephen Rath, Carl West, and Allen Kolodzieczyk.  Honorary pallbearer is Robby Bitterly.
