John Michael Burnett, 69, of Westhoff passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was born May 4, 1943 in Montreal, Canada to the late James and Caroline Hidgen Burnett. He married Cindy Jo Kent in Oklahoma on June 9, 1972. He was a veteran of the United States Army. John was the owner of Stars Over Texas Longhorn Ranch and was an Insurance Executive at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling the world with his bride.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Cindy Jo Burnett; daughter, Kimberlie Burnett and husband, Joe Perron, of Long Beach, California; mother-in-law, Flora Kent of Denver, Colorado; brothers-in-law, Doug Kent of San Francisco, California and Mike Kent of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Cristal Burnett and husband, Edgar, of Long Beach, Calif., John Burnett and wife, Ali, of Long Beach, Calif., and J.R. Burnett of Long Beach, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Luke Burnett and Adrianna 'Mickey' Burnett, both of Long Beach, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Christopher Burnett.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Thursday, May 31, 2012, 10 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Westhoff with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Stars Over Texas Longhorn Ranch in Westhoff.
