Obituary

John G. "J Gus" Jank 82 of Meyersville passed away Saturday, Feb 26, 2011, He was born July 10, 1928, in Ander to the late August and Julia Jank. He married the late Iris Ann Rangnow Jank, February 25, 1951. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a member of Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department, VFW, Farm Bureau, Independent Cattlemen's Association, Hochheim Prairie Insurance Meyersville Branch Board Member, NRA, Friends of 4H and FFA. Past member of the Meyersville ISD Board, St. John Lutheran Church Council, and the Meyersville Coon Hunters Association. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, and volunteering to cook for various community fundraisers. He enjoyed family activities such as wine making, canning, and making homemade sausage.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Bodden (Kevin) of Meyersville; sons, Johnny Paul Jank (Virginia) of Meyersville, Bruce Jank and friend Darla Fox of Victoria, and Mitchell Jank (Terri) of Meyersville; grandchildren, Kyle and Kolby Jank of Victoria, Trenton and Trevor Bodden of Meyersville, Britany Jank of Lockhart, Kim Weitz (John) of Inez, Megan Peterek (Chad) of Victoria, Will and Lisa Sager of Meyersville, Matt Fox of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Tanner Weitz, Kate Weitz, Cade Peterek, Zach Peterek, and Cortlyn Peterek.

He was preceded in death by wife, his parents, and brother, Alton Jank.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1 at 6 to 7:30p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. The funeral will be at 2p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville, with Pastor Eric officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Kyle Jank, Kolby Jank, Trenton Bodden, Trevor Bodden, John Weitz, Chad Peterek, Will Sager, and Matthew Fox.

Honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren: Kate Weitz, Cortlyn Peterek, Tanner Weitz, Zachary Peterek, and Cade Peterek.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Meyersville and The American Cancer Society.
