John Peter Tumlinson, 57, of Cuero, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, in Victoria. He was born Aug. 18, 1953, in Hereford, to the late LB Owen and Ruth May Owen of Cuero. He married Roxanne Martinmaas on Feb. 15, 1974, in Memphis, Tennessee.
He was a retired service specialist with Halliburton. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coral Sea and USS Kitty Hawk. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, RVN Meritorious Unit Commendation: Gallantry Cross with oak leaf and palm, and Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Zachary John Tumlinson (Jessica) of San Antonio, Lance Brian Tumlinson of Cuero, and Jeremiah James Tumlinson (Krystle) of Midland; sister, Mary Knight of Temple; brother, Charles Tumlinson (Debbie) of Grand Prairie; and grandchild, Bryce Avry Tumlinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero with Terry Brown officiating. Burial will be at Floyd's Chapel.
Pallbearers are Zachary Tumlinson, Lance Tumlinson, Jeremiah Tumlinson, Michael Hominick, and Rocky Yackel.
