Josefa Vela Salazar, 87, of Cuero entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 28, 2016. She was born on March 19, 1930 in Yorktown, TX to the late Julio and Juanita Vela.


She is survived by the love of her life Gregorio Salazar and was united in marriage on January 06, 1955, and this union was blessed with nine children. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children; Rodolfo Salazar, Gregorio Jr (Virginia), Daniel (Raquel), Diana, Rebecca (Raymond), Jaime (Blanca) Armando (Graciela), Blanca (Carlton), Linda (Kent), Reyes, Margarita, Robert, Julio, Rudy and Antonio; 34 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Alicia and Manuela.


The visitation will be held Sunday, March 4 at Freund Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. with the Rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Father Jasper Liggion officiating.


Pall bearers will include Rodolfo Salazar Jr., Gregorio Salazar Jr., Daniel Salazar Jr., Mario Saenz, Raymond Rocha Jr., and Matthew Salazar. Honorary Pallbearers are the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
