Josephine Cervantes Diaz,83, of Cuero passed away Monday, August 4, 2014. She was born July 22, 1931 in Cheapside to the late Joe Cervantes, Sr., and Maria Ignacia Gonzales Cervantes. She married the love of her life, Gonzalo Robles Diaz, Sr., on December, 4 1966, in Cuero. Josephine was a devoted Catholic and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Nicolasa E. Sertuche of Cuero and Diana Diaz of Houston; son, Gonzalo Diaz, Jr. (Veronica) of Cuero; sisters, Ramona Rodriguez, Francis Lazo, Antonia Gonzales, and Janie Gonzales all of Cuero; brother, Inez Cervantes of Cuero; and grandchildren, Christopher, Ariana, & Matthew Diaz, all of Cuero. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Maria Trejo and Lupe Cervantes; and brother, Joe Cervantes, Jr. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Concrete. Pallbearers include Christopher Diaz, Mitchell Gonzales, Cruz Gonzales, Martin Rodriguez, Jesse Gonzales, Jerry Purcel, and Tony Maldonado. Honorary pallbearers include Ariana Diaz and Matthew Diaz. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
