Joyce Abbegail Afflerbach entered into Heaven and the arms of her Lord and savior on September 26, 2004 at the age of 101 years, 8 months and 20 days.   Joyce was born January 6, 1923 in Bay Town when her father was a section foreman for Southern Pacific.  Joyce was raised in Smiley from 1932 until she married Victor L. Afflerbach in 1940.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor L. Afflerbach and parents, Charles A. Bartlett and Annie (Sauer) Bartlett; brother,  Lionel Bartlett; sister, Naomi Barnett and great granddaughter Madison Wilson.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald V. Afflerbach (Candy) of Westhoff and Gerald K. Afflerbach (Kaye) of Granbury; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff.

There will be a visitation at Freund Funeral Home from 11:00AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024.  Funeral services will be at St. John Lutheran Church, Westhoff at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024.  Interment will follow at Westhoff Cemetery.  There will be a fellowship and celebration of Joyce's life at the Church parish hall after the graveside service.

Pallbearers include Ryan Afflerbach, Mike Afflerbach, Mikey Afflerbach, Blake Afflerbach, Cole Wilson, Jamie Wright, Chris Kenzie and Robbie Rollins.
