Obituary

Joyce Weston Boston Kayser was born January 10, 1929, in Westhoff, Texas, and went to her heavenly home April 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Weston; mother, Emma Goldman Weston; brothers, Clifton and wife, Rose, Carlton and wife, Peggy, Charles and wife, Joyce, and Kenneth; nephews, Bobby and Carlton Ray Weston; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was devoted to husbands Doyle Boston who passed away in 1960 and Tommy Kayser who passed in 1989.  Her love of the Lord shone through to everyone who knew her – most especially to her family who deeply loved and treasured her.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Garry Redding; their children, Doyle Redding and his wife, Alison, Jennifer and her husband, Dave McCarville, and Leslie Redding. The lights of her life were her six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Weston, and Brooke Redding; Molly and Tate McCarville; and Austin Wheeler. Her youngest sibling is her brother Royce Weston who survives her along with his wife, Janet. She was a loving aunt to her surviving nephews and nieces, Melinda Weston Brock, Mack Weston, Melissa Weston Cumby, Robert Weston, Michael Weston, Michelle Weston Malandrakis, Jo Weston, K. C. Weston, Melanie Veit Driffill, and their families.
Joyce was a shining example of Christian love in her service to her church and community. She was a faithful member of Dellview Baptist Church in San Antonio until she moved to Westhoff and joined the First Baptist Church there. She held many offices and leadership positions, taught Sunday School, and worked with great joy in many capacities in her churches over the years. She considered it her calling to serve others.
In her professional career, she was the General Manager of Manpower, Inc., in San Antonio. She was a Certified Professional Secretary, was an active member of numerous organizations, and served on the boards of the Texas-Louisiana Division of the National Secretaries Association, the San Antonio Chapter of the Business and Professional Women, and Executive Women International. She was also President of the San Antonio (Anacacho) Chapter of the National Secretaries Association.  She loved sports. Joyce was the captain of the Cuero High School volleyball team and played softball for Westhoff. She also played golf and played in several bowling leagues. She was an avid Spurs fan throughout the life of the team; she and Tommy were season ticket holders. In later years, she and her brother, Carlton to her and Mook to Westhoff folks, hardly ever missed an Astros game. After her move to Castroville in 2011, she became a Rangers fan. It was rare to find her watching anything on TV other than golf tournaments or Spurs and Rangers games.
Her pastor, Richard Schaller of the First Baptist Church of Westhoff, will conduct her funeral service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 15 at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, Texas, with burial to follow at the Westhoff Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Doyle Redding, Dave McCarville, Weston Redding, Tate McCarville, Austin Wheeler, and Mack Weston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Westhoff or to the Christmas Child program of Samaritan's Purse.
