Joyce Orlene Godby, 71, of Yorktown died Friday October 11, 2013. She was born April 21, 1942 in Denton, Texas to the late Donald and Clara Ruth Pritchett Thomas. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Yorktown.

She is survived by her husband of 28 ½ years John Godby of Yorktown, daughters Charlyn (Jimmy) Speed of Yorktown, Chana (T.K.) Hanke of Richmond, TX, son Michael Veal of Kennedale, TX. Sisters Jean Taylor of Robstown, Lometa George of Azle, TX and Donna Stafford of Big Sandy, TX and brother Mike Thomas of Lake Hawkins, TX. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She is preceded in death her parents, brother Donald Ray Thomas and sister Barbara Allred.

Visitation be 5-7 pm Monday Oct. 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be 10 am Tuesday Oct. 15, 2013 at First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Westside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hanke, Zach Hanke, Jerry Hanke, Ryan Speed, Josh Speed, Sam Speed and Chris Bolting. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the First Baptist Church.
