Katherine Marie Koenig Goebel, 88, of Cuero, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018. She was born August 10, 1929 to the late Walter C. and Mary Shimer Koenig. Katherine married the love of her life, Harold William Goebel on October 15, 1950 in Cuero. She loved gardening, working in her flower beds, camping and fishing at the river, playing dominoes, and most of all, spending time with her family. Katherine is survived by her daughters, Becky (James) Koranek of Cuero and Shirley Froehlich of Austin; son, Johnny (Susan) Goebel of Cuero; sister, Billie (Ed) Southern of Cuero; and grandchildren, Kerry (Debbie) Goebel of Friendswood, Kendal Koranek of Cuero, Kathleen Carr, Heather Carr, and John (Savanna) Carr, all of Victoria, Grace (Leo) Butler of Victoria, Trey Froehlich and Wyatt Froehlich, both of Austin; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Reece, Ryan, and Ryder of Friendswood. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 64 years; daughter, RuthAnn Carr; son, Paul W. Goebel; and brothers, Louis (Beryl) Koenig and William Louis Koenig. The visitation will be held Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 26, 2018, 11 a.m.,at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Jasper Liggio officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Kerry Goebel, Kendal Koranek, Trey Froehlich, Wyatt Froehlich, Dickie Goebel, and John Carr. Honorary pallbearers include Kathleen Carr, Heather Carr, and Grace Carr Butler.
