Katie Mitchell, 82, of Cuero passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009. She was born April 9, 1927 in Cuero to the late Andrew and Beatrice Avant McPherson.

She is survived by her daughters, Gwendolyn Jones of Houston, Tondra Mitchell of Cuero, and Glodeane Mitchell of Cuero; sons, Andrew Mitchell of Cuero, Thomas Mitchell Jr. of Cuero, and Charles W. Mitchell of Houston; sisters, Ora B. Wesley of Cuero and Evelyn Johnson of San Antonio; brothers, W.A. McPherson of Houston and Avant Charles McPherson of Houston; grandchildren, Tommy Whittington, Danielle Jones, Andrew Washington, Jamaine Washington, Tyce Haynes, Tyrese Mitchell, and Patrice Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Ariana Washington, Traeshun Washington, Jacob Washington, Joshua Washington, Tyamry Haynes, Tyasia Haynes, and Tyavian Haynes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas Mitchell Sr.

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Cuero, with the Rev. Charles W. Mitchell officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Willie Green Jr., Dedric Green, Christopher Johnson, Sidney Battles, Donald Burden, Richard Varela, Joe Ricky Thomas, and Thomas Williams.
