Obituary

Kenneth Lane Birchfield, 72, of Cuero passed away Monday, July 15, 2019. He was born December 18, 1946 in Cuero to the late Charles and Kathleen Birchfield. Kenneth graduated from Calhoun High School and then attended Texas A & I where he received his BA in Arts & Sciences in History. Kenneth served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a business partner in the construction/manufacturing companies, MBRT and Keseling Industries, a prison guard for DeWitt County, and was a distributive education teacher for over a decade. Kenneth was currently a hot shot driver working for Pioneer Oilfield Trucking.

Kenneth is survived by Ashley Magee, who was like a daughter to him; sisters, Charlene Birchfield Horne of Port Lavaca and Susan Birchfield of Corpus Christi; and Ashley's sons, Joel and Colt.  He was also survived by his six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ronald and Arlen Birchfield.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Freund Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Muehlbrad officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers include Carl Magee, Cliff Horne, Eric Horne, Scott Horne, Chris Birchfield, John Fuqua, John Clegg, and Joel Vogt.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cuero High School Athletic Booster Club, as Kenneth had a deep love for Cuero Football and supported the Cuero Gobblers for many years.
