Heaven gained an angel when, on March 17th, 2016, Kenneth W. Cooper passed from this life to live with our Lord at the age of 75. He was born on May 27, 1940 to the late Riley G. and Norma Lee Cooper in Pleasanton, Texas. He lived there until he began working for DuPont as an operator and then mechanic, moving his family to Meyersville. He worked for DuPont for 28 ½ years before being medically retired in 1996. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, mechanic, and gardener. Devoted to his wife and girls, he spent countless hours of time with helping on 4-H animals and projects, and he took great pride and happiness in all his grandchildren. Those that knew him readily saw his integrity, honesty, work ethic and willingness to help others. Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Lillian F. Marek Cooper, four daughters, 10 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and another due in May and one great grandson. Those that will forever cherish their time with him are Karen Wright and husband Brett of Falls City, Debra Rayl and husband Rock of St. Hedwig, Brenda Justice and husband John of Goliad and Laura Wanjura and husband Kevin of Cuero. Grandchildren are Megan Wright Kruger and husband Adam, Cameron Wright, Cooper Rayl, Brooke Rayl, Joshua Justice and wife Hannah, Shaun Justice, Teresa Justice, Paige Wanjura, Taylor Wanjura and Jeremy Wanjura, Great granddaughter Makenzie Kruger and soon to join us Analise Kruger and great grandson Caleb Justice. Additionally, three sisters, Carol McLendon, Patty Hayes and Linda Daniels. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, an infant brother Ronald as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Freund Funeral Home on Sunday, March 20 from 6-8pm, with a rosary beginning at 7pm. Services will be held on Monday, March 21 at 10am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Meyersville with Father Charles Otsiwah. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
