Leona Mae Layton, 92, of Cuero passed away Monday, July 29, 2013. She was born May 10, 1921 in Yorktown to the late William and Lavie Bradley Goehring. She married her beloved husband, Louis Michael Layton, on July 16, 1938 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. She worked for the Cuero ISD cafeteria food service for 23 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. She loved to cook for her family and kept her home immaculate.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Todd Layton of Round Rock, Terri Dumas of Pleasanton, John Layton of Round Mountain, Stephanie Layton and Amanda Layton of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Tabetha Layton, Tara Layton, Monica Cassel, Laura Cassel, Chandler Wilganowski, Alyssa Wilganowski, Ashlynn Wilganowski, Carson Wilganowski, Seth Dumas, Morgan Dumas, Cody Dumas, Abby Dumas, Sara Layton, Dane Tamborello, and Ava Layton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Helen Marie Apostolo; sons, Louis James Layton and David William Layton; sisters, Mrs. Roy Adair, Mrs. Ralph Thomas and Verna Reed; and grandchildren, Deborah Cassel and Craig Layton.

A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. with a mass following at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Daniel Danso officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Todd Layton, Dan Dumas, Cody Dumas, Seth Dumas, John Layton, and Holt Lawless.
