Leroy Heil, 80, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015. He was born August 22, 1934 in Victoria to the late Henry and Ella Parke Heil. He married Judy Bitterly on May 30, 1962 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Meyersville. Leroy was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a produce manager, a member of the Knights of Columbus, was an avid gardener, and loved cheering on his Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Cuero Gobblers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Judy Heil; daughter, Susan Gallaway and husband, Michael; sons, Brian Heil and fiance, Diana, and Kevin Heil and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Wesley Gallaway of Austin, Sarah Gallaway and Ryon, of Stillwater, OK, Austin Gallaway of Cuero, Stephanie Heil of Cuero, Hannah and Hayven Heil of Port Lavaca, McKynzie and Hannah Grace Heil of Mission Valley, Christina Munoz and husband, Martin Jr., of Yorktown, Misty Miller and husband, David, of Deer Park, Alyse Pauler and husband, Wesley, of Yoakum, and Marcus Arguellez and wife, Crystal, of Victoria; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Heil; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Heil.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral mass will be Saturday, January 24, 2015, 2 p.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Meyersville.
Pallbearers include Wesley Gallaway, Austin Gallaway, John Varella, Michael Johnson, Keith Hans, and Ryon Gilmer.
Honorary pallbearers include Randy Layh, Alfred Rangnow, Dr. Dan Dugi, and Pastor Bill Cotman.
