Obituary

Leta Virginia Burton, 82, of Cuero, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 in Weslaco. She was born Jan. 4, 1928 in Bentonville to the late William Roy and Celilla Harwell Wallis. She married Virgil E. Burton on March 16, 1946. She was a homemaker, an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Lolita Nalley of Benton, Ark.; sons, Ron Burton of Albuquerque, N.M., Terry Burton of Canyon Lake, and Jeffrey Burton of Cuero; sisters, Bess Turner of Vanderbilt, Bernice George of Leander, Lois Young of Corpus Christi, and Linda Haigood of Alice; brother, Leland Wallis of Conroe; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Burton; sister, Rube Smith; and brothers, W.R. Wallis Jr. and Warren Wallis.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria, with Mr. Richard Smith officiating.
