Obituary

Linda Lou Henderson, 87, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 in Cuero.  She was born in Monroe, LA to Jessie and Joe Thompson.  Linda graduated from Neville High School in 1953, attended Louisiana Tech and received her master's degree in education from the University of Houston Victoria.  She was voted school beauty both in high school and college.  After moving to Cuero in 1962, she taught Senior English at Cuero High School for many years.

Linda was Cuero proud, and participated in many civic and charitable activities.  She served on Cuero City Council for twelve years, and was one of the founding members of Keep Cuero Beautiful where she served as President for numerous years.  Most of all, Linda was a devout Christian who was active in many activities at First Presbyterian Church of Cuero. Sunny by nature, with a quick sense of humor, she accepted life as it happened.  She led a rich and active life with her immediate and extended family.  Her outgoing personality earned her many lasting friendships.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Victor L. Henderson; her parents and sister, Jo Eleanor Benton.  She is survived by long time partner, Bob Garrett; daughter, Lorey Spears (Travis); son, Lynny Henderson (Karen); niece, Andrea Gladney; nephew, Richard Benton (Margery); grandchildren, Aaron Spears (Sandra), Chad Spears (Kellee), Johnny Spears, Victoria Henderson, Sarah Henderson and Leslie Driver; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Spears, Leo Spears, Owen Spears, Koen Sweeney and Shania Horton; four great-great grandchildren and her loyal dog, Missy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero.  Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2022, 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Cuero with Pastor Stanley Larson officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers include Alton Meyer, John Davis, Carlyle Stakes, Raleigh Coppedge and Bert Stubbs.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Keep Cuero Beautiful or Cuero Pet Adoptions.
