Lucia Garza Gonzales, 78, of Cuero, passed away Thursday, September 6,2018, Surrounded by her loved ones.   She was born December 13, 1939 to the late Catharino and Apoloñia Villegas Garza, in Alice.   Lucia had a passion and love for her Lord and Savior and devoted much of her time in doing the Lord's work. She cherished her family and friends and will be remembered for her kindness and compassion for others.  Lucia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, and great great great-grandmother.

Lucia is survived by her sons, Margarito Sanchez of OK, Rolando Ortiz of Yorktown; daughters, Devon Herrera of Gatesville, Blanca Salazar, Martha Garibay, Celinda Jasso, and Crystal Ceasar all of Cuero ; ex-husband and friend, Manuel H. Gonzales; sister, Josefa Gonzales of Sinton;  and 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, and 3 great great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita, Agapita, Leonor, Felipa; and brother, Alfonzo, Pedro, Andres, Viviano, Santos, Benito, Cerildo, and Vincente.

The visitation service will be held Monday, September 10, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Church with Pastors David and Virginia Maldonado officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Michael Ray Jasso, Nicholas Jay Jasso, John Garcia, Cory Brandsetter, Dominic White Sr., and Kypher Jahn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.
