Madeline Fisher Liptak, 89, of Cuero, Texas died March 28, 2011 at 5:45 a.m. She was born March 19, 1922 in Moshannon, Pennsylvania; the youngest daughter of Paul and Minnie Beightol Fisher. The family moved to Montoursville where she attended elementary and high schools. She graduated from Montoursville High School in 1940. While living in Erie in 1951, she met her future husband, Stanley Anthony Liptak. They were married August 30, 1952 and made their home in Dunellen, New Jersey. They had one child, Charlotte S. Liptak. Stanley died in 1969.
Madeline retired from her work as a teletype operator with Union Carbide Corporation in 1985 and returned to Montoursville where she resided until 2002, when she moved to Williamsport. She was an active, caring member of her community as shown through her participation in numerous organizations over the years. She had been a deacon and elder at Montoursville Presbyterian Church, member and former secretary of the General John Burrows Historical Society, former member of the Eastern Star, member of Penn State Extension, and a volunteer at The Williamsport Home. She moved to Cuero in September 2008 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a generous and loving woman, who will be dearly missed by her many family members and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Liptak and son-in-law, Bob Kuhn of Cuero, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Marie Kimball of East Stroudsburg and Dorothy Liptak of Parma, Ohio; nephew and niece-in-law, Harold and Donna Kimball of Savannah, Georgia; niece, Regina Taylor of Houston; niece and nephew-in-law, Margaret and Brad Clifton of Tucson, Arizona; nephew and niece-in-law, Rodney and Caryl Liptak of Madison, Indiana; and many loving cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Stanley; and her sister, Charlotte Fisher Campbell.
She will be remembered as a warm and caring woman who loved to laugh and help others, and who loved her church, her family, and her friends. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral home visitation. She also requested that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember her and her family make a contribution to her favorite charity, The Seeing Eye, which provides guide dogs for blind or visually impaired persons.
