Mardelle V. Arnold, 87, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010. She was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Beaukiss, to the late Myrtle Hargrove and James Allen Carter. She married Bernie Arnold on Nov. 12, 1945 in Cuero.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Arnold of Cuero and Catherine Berger of Huxley, Iowa; sister, Joyce DeGlandon of Austin; grandchildren, Edie Harbordt of San Antonio, Jerry Berger Jr. of Cripple Creek, Elizabeth Saldaña of San Antonio, Crystal Reinertson of Huxley, Iowa, and Iris Boothe of Cuero; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Mike Arnold and John Arnold; brother, James Bennett Carter; and grandson, Scottie Stewart.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at St. Michael's Church in Cuero, with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.

Pallbearers will be Jerry L. Berger, Jerry L. Berger Jr., Randall Martin Reinertson, Lee Boothe, James Allen Carter, and David Carter.

Honorary pallbearers are Kai Reinertson, Mason Berger, Kade Reinertson, and Aiden Boothe.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church or Gulf Bend Center.
