Obituary

Marjorie Faye Foster, 91, passed away on November 9, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born September 13, 1926 in Refugio to Thomas Barrum Prescott and Josephine Bruchmiller Prescott. Margie attended Refugio Public Schools and graduated in 1945 with the honor of Salutatorian. She did secretarial work and was a homemaker. Margie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married William Glenn "Bud" Foster on September 23, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Victoria and their marriage was blessed with two children. In 1952 she moved with her family to Cuero where her husband assumed management and later ownership of Surface Burial Vault Company of Cuero. Margie worked with her husband in the business until his retirement after which time their son assumed ownership of the business. Bud and Margie were also part owners of the former Oak Memorial Funeral Home of Cuero. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuero, a 60 year member of Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Dinter Post #3, was a charter member of the former Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6290 of Refugio, and a member of Hermann Sons Lodge 82 of Cuero. Margie enjoyed bowling, spending time at the coast with her family and friends, painting, sewing and gardening. She loved being with her family and spending time with her two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Darrel Lee (Elaine) Foster of Cuero; her daughter, Glenda Susan (Stanley) Laskowski of New Braunfels; her granddaughter, Leah Denee (Cameron) Zablocky of New Braunfels; and two great-grandchildren, Kailyn Juliette Zablocky and Haiden Prescott Zablocky, also of New Braunfels.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Lee Wallace Prescott and Theodore Prescott; and two sisters, Clara Hardin and Kathleen "Bebe" Burgin.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Kallie Green officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Zablocky, Thomas Burgin, Gary West, Scooter Cheatham, Mark Goodwin, and Robert Goodwin. Haiden Prescott Zablocky will serve as a very special honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Raymond Reese for providing excellent care for our mother for over 50 years. Our heartfelt thanks also goes out to the staff and nurses of Cuero Regional Hospital, Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Hospice of South Texas for the compassionate and attentive care and support given to our mother and her family at the end of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cuero.
