Mary 'Mazie' Katherine Lucas, 86, of Cuero passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was born September 15, 1925 in Yorktown to the late Julius and Margaret Mugge Hoff. She attended Incarnate Word University in San Antonio and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school and served on the alter guild. She married Paul R. Lucas Sr. on April 27, 1944. In her earlier years, she was an avid golfer and fisherman, and she and Paul spent much of their time at their place on the coast. Most of all, she loved to be outside gardening and keeping her house and lawn looking great.
She is survived by her children, Lauren Gay Ray of Beeville, Mary Clare Natho and husband, James, of Cuero, and Paul R. Lucas, Jr. and wife, Martha, of Cuero; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 27, 2012, 3 p.m., at Hillside Cemetery with Pastor Eric Fenton officiating.
Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Robin Orchard and her daughter, Sydney, Clinton Lucas Ray and his two children, Carson and Lauren, Jason Lucas Natho and his two children, Allie and Luke, and Clayton James Natho.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or charity of choice.
