Mary Mejias, 69, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012. She was born November 20, 1942 in Meyersville to the late Candelano and Narcissa Alaniz. She married John Mejias in Cuero, Texas. Mary was a housewife and a caregiver.
She is survived by her husband, John Mejias; daughters, Mary Lou Martinez in San Antonio and Geraldine Mendoza and husband, Isidro, of Cuero; sons John Mejias Jr. and wife, Sylvia, of Cuero and Steve Mejias of Cuero; sisters, Annie Flores and husband, Ramiro, of Houston and Gloria Barbontin of Cuero; brother, Candelano Alaniz Jr. and wife, Viola, of Cuero; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Phyllis Anzaldua.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include David Martinez Jr., Isidro Mendoza Jr., Randal Mejias, John Mejias III, JJ Jones, Chris Perez, Steve Mejias Jr., and Candelano Alaniz III. Honorary pallbearers will be Manual Anzaldua Jr. and Jeremy Galindo.
