Mary Barron Ortiz of Cuero entered into eternal rest with the Lord at the age of 98 on Monday, May 31, 2021.  She was born September 25, 1922 in Cuero to the late Miguel and Adela Gamboa.  Mary was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Olga Tounley (Charles) of Cuero; son, Rev. Mike Barron of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Juan Barron; second husband, Frank Ortiz; daughter, Irene Villa; sons, Canuto "John" Barron, Nabor Barron, and Domingo Barron; and sister, Nativida Barron.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 3, 2021, 6 to 8 pm, at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7 pm.  Funeral mass will be Friday, June 4, 2021, 2 pm, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Westhoff with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Eddie Barron, John Michael Villa, Sammy Villa Jr., Jordan Longoria, John Joe Barron, and Jamie Barron.  Honorary pallbearers will be Nabor Barron Jr. and Eric Tounley.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
