Obituary

Maurine Ottine Flessner, 95, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014. She was born April 19, 1919 in Nordheim to the late Otto and Mary Kneifel Schroller. Maurine was baptized by Rev. Father John Jachty on June 29, 1919 at Holy Cross Church in Yorktown. She was confirmed on April 17, 1938 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown by Pastor C.G. Hankammer. Maurine married Edwin R. Flessner on January 9, 1938 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown. They became members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cuero in 1946. They were blessed with two sons, Harlan and Douglas. Maurine worked at the Guadalupe Valley Cotton Mill for 15 years as a weaver and then worked at Tandy Tex Tan for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, St. Mark's Ladies Auxiliary, E.L.C.A. Circle, and the Ladies Auxillary of Cuero Fire Department for 45 years. She is survived by son, Douglas Flessner (Caraleen) of Cuero; daughter-in-law, Barbara Flessner; grandchildren, Kyle Flessner (Kelly) of Lucas, Jeremy Flessner (Jenny) of Katy, Kristin Landry (Michael) of Houston, Rodney Flessner (Stephanie) of Cuero, and Randall Flessner (Melissa) of Cuero; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Landry of Houston, Avery and Erin Flessner of Lucas, Evan, Clara, and Camden Flessner of Katy, Chad, Cody, Gavin, and Korbin Flessner of Cuero, and Desirae and Alexis Flessner of Cuero. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Alvin, Felton, and Leroy Schroller; and son, Harlan Flessner. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Monday, December 22, 2014, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kyle Flessner, Jeremy Flessner, Michael Landry, Rodney Flessner, Randall Flessner, and Gary Flessner.
