Obituary

Melanie Dieringer Buenger, 97, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born February 8, 1918 in Cuero to the late Severin Dieringer and Emelia Feussel. On November 3, 1936 she married the love of her life Bonnie Buenger. She loved to spend time outside tending to her plants, talking to her dogs and watching her cattle. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara McMahan of Victoria and Melissa Buenger of Cuero; son, David Buenger (Julie) of Cuero; grandsons, W. Keith McMahan, Mark A. McMahan and David Shelton Buenger; great-grandchildren, Ashley Armstrong (Jimmy), Matthew W. McMahan, Mason M. Buenger, Elizabeth McMahan, Kayla McMahan, and Christina McMahan; great-great-grandchildren, Paityn Miller and Preston Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years; brothers, Huggo, Otto, Emil, Bill, Edward, and Roland Dieringer; sisters, Meta Sturm, Emilie Meyer and Rosie Dieringer; and son-in-law, Wayne McMahan.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Donna Howell and Brandy Simpson and all the staff of Alzcare of DeWitt County for their wonderful care and love for "Miss Melanie" for the past 10 months. Also to Hospice of South Texas for their wonderful care and support for these last few weeks preparing mom for her journey to be reunited with her beloved Bonnie.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Freund Funeral Home from 5:30-7:30 pm. There will be a graveside service held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 11:00 am, at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero with Rev. Jeffery A. Thompson officiating.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Wayne Keith McMahan, Mark A. McMahan, David Shelton Buenger, Matthew W. McMahan, Mason M. Buenger and Jimmy R. Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth McMahan, Kayla McMahan, Christina McMahan, Paityn Miller and Preston Armstrong.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hospice of South Texas, or Bluebonnet Youth Ranch, in memory of Melanie Buenger.
