Obituary

Michael Wayne Hans, 69, of Cuero, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, in Victoria. He was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Cuero, to the late Werner L. Hans and Edith Loos Hans of Cuero. He graduated from Cuero High School and Southwest Texas in San Marcos with a Bachelor of Arts in Educations. He married Jannette Pilat Hans on Aug. 20, 1966, in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero by Father John Flynn.

He was a teacher, a life member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Yoakum Assembly #1128, and Third Degree, Cuero Council #1628, and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church for most of his life.

He enjoyed watching the cats play and cherished the moment when one would hop up on his bed to nap with him. He was an avid reader and admired his knife collection.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Keith E. Hans and Patrick W. Hans, both of Cuero; and brother, Lou Hans and wife Virginia of Meadows Place.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Kirby Hlavaty, Deacon Tony Warzecha, and Deacon Leo Sharron officiating.

Pallbearers included Leroy Heil, Flyod Doehrman, Gus Leck, Tim Brewer, Wilson E. Southern, and Gerard Gonzales.

Honorary pallbearers included the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Yoakum Assembly #1128, and Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Cuero Council #1682.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church or St. Michael's School in Cuero.
